Here’s a wall hanging I made using vintage wood letterpress type spacers, which were the pieces of wood the printers would use to separate the pieces of type when printing billboards and circus posters 30-40 years ago.  It measures about 3’ high by 2’ wide and has the most wonderful blue/red patina. They come in different lengths and widths and I set them in place just like you would tile. This piece took about 8 hours to create.

The fun part about working with the spacers and type is seeing how the colors come out after multiple applications of Briwax paste wax and a lot of elbow grease. A true labor of love but so worth it.
